What is Section 80D?
Section 80D allows a deduction for health insurance premiums paid for yourself, your family, and your parents. This is available only under the old tax regime.

What's Covered Under 80D?
- Health insurance premium for self, spouse, and dependent children
- Health insurance premium for parents (separate limit)
- Preventive health check-up: Up to ₹5,000 (within the overall limit)
- Medical expenditure for senior citizens without insurance: Up to ₹50,000
Maximum Deduction Scenarios
- ₹25,000: Self/family insurance only (all below 60)
- ₹50,000: Self + parents insurance (all below 60)
- ₹75,000: Self below 60 + parents above 60
- ₹1,00,000: All above 60 (self + parents)
